The Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology is a four-year undergraduate degree with an Honours stream option, delivered on campus at Mount Royal University in Calgary. Coursework covers archaeology, ethnography, forensic science and cultural analysis, ranging from the study of ancient tools and skeletal remains to modern social systems and global issues, giving students a broad grounding in how human societies are studied both historically and in the present. Students take part in hands-on fieldwork, lab research and immersive study abroad or field school experiences, within small class sizes that allow close mentorship from faculty throughout the degree. The Honours stream lets qualifying students conduct original supervised research and complete a final scholarly project during their later years of study. The program suits students interested in careers in research, heritage work, education, community development or further graduate study in specialized fields, with potential roles including cultural resource management technician, museum curator, forensic analyst or international aid worker.
