The Major Concentration in Anthropology examines human cultural diversity through comparison across societies separated by time, geography, or cultural difference. The program covers socio-cultural change, the connections between distinct communities, and archaeology, the study of human culture through material artefacts. Sample courses include History of Anthropological Theory and Primate Studies and Conservation. The concentration is offered within the Faculty of Arts and is commonly combined with related areas such as History, Sociology, English: Cultural Studies, Political Science, and Psychology. Graduates pursue paths in fields such as law, foreign service, community organization, public administration, journalism, and teaching and research in the social sciences, with many continuing to graduate study in anthropology or archaeology.
