Overview
The College Readiness Program helps adult learners build the skills needed for NVIT programs through tuition-free courses in reading, writing, math, and science. Learners receive personalized support to prepare for success in post-secondary education.
The College Readiness program offers courses designed to help adults obtain prerequisite skills for entry to NVIT career/technical and/or academic programs. College Readiness is designed for the adult learner who did not complete high school or who needs to review high school level academic skills before advancing to post-secondary level study.
Courses in the program help learners develop skills in reading, writing, study skills, mathematics and science at fundamental provincial levels (literacy/numeracy through grade 12).
Requirements
Admission Requirements: This program follows NVIT's general admission requirements rather than a course-specific academic threshold; all applicants complete an assessment of reading, writing, and mathematics skills, and are placed into courses at the level the results indicate, meeting with an Academic Planner as needed to confirm placement. No IELTS, TOEFL, or other standardized English-language test score is published for this program; language and literacy skills are instead evaluated through the placement assessment. Applicants should complete assessments and registration before the first day of classes. NVIT notes that applicants who do not meet requirements should contact the Department Coordinator or Academic Planner about upgrading. The diploma is offered full-time, part-time, or in a hybrid format in the Fall and Spring terms.

Application Deadline:NVIT accepts domestic applications on a rolling basis: general Fall-term applications are targeted by 31 July and Spring-term applications by 30 November each year, with offers issued in the order applications are completed and, if seats remain, continued acceptance up to the program start date. NVIT does not currently admit new international students for most programs: its Provincial Attestation Letter allocation was set at zero for 2025-2026, so new international applications are accepted only from Indigenous Peoples (per UNDRIP), Jay Treaty applicants, and permanent residents, who apply through EducationPlannerBC. NVIT publishes no international application deadline for these routes, and whether the zero-allocation restriction still holds for 2026-2027 was not confirmed on a page carrying that year. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
