This certificate offers pre-foundational training across several high-demand industrial trades, alongside employment skills such as resume writing, interview techniques, and other job-search tools. Over the course of the program, students build an understanding of workplace safety and gain substantial hands-on experience in four trade areas: welding, machining or millwright work, plumbing or pipefitting, and electrical work.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: NVIT recommends, rather than strictly requires, Grade 10 Math and Grade 10 English as academic preparation for this bridging program. No IELTS, TOEFL, or other standardized English-language test score is published for this program. NVIT states that applicants who do not meet the recommended preparation should contact the Department Coordinator or an Academic Planner about upgrading opportunities before enrolling. The program runs as a series of community-based intakes, with NVIT's Community Education Department scheduling delivery in different communities throughout the province each year rather than on a fixed institutional calendar; the page lists its own offering as varying. Applicants are directed to contact the Community Education Department directly, or to follow NVIT's general application process, for a specific community's intake dates.
Application Details
Application Deadline:NVIT accepts domestic applications on a rolling basis: general Fall-term applications are targeted by 31 July and Spring-term applications by 30 November each year, with offers issued in the order applications are completed and, if seats remain, continued acceptance up to the program start date. NVIT does not currently admit new international students for most programs: its Provincial Attestation Letter allocation was set at zero for 2025-2026, so new international applications are accepted only from Indigenous Peoples (per UNDRIP), Jay Treaty applicants, and permanent residents, who apply through EducationPlannerBC. NVIT publishes no international application deadline for these routes, and whether the zero-allocation restriction still holds for 2026-2027 was not confirmed on a page carrying that year. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
