The Associate of Science Degree in Environmental Science offers cross-disciplinary study of local and global environmental issues, combining practical fieldwork with theoretical coursework. The credential requires a minimum of 60 credits (1050 hours) and prepares graduates for employment in environmental monitoring, ecological restoration, and conservation services, as well as transfer into the third year of a four-year bachelor's degree at other institutions. Coursework also supports eligibility toward professional designations such as Professional Geoscientist, Professional Biologist, and Registered Agrologist. Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet English, math, and science requirements. English: one of English 12, English Literature 12, English First Peoples 12, ENGL 050, or ENGL 099 with a 'C' grade or higher, or any university-level English course with a 'C' grade or higher; applicants who do not meet this must complete the NLC Writing Assessment. International students, and domestic students educated in French or another language, must instead meet NLC's general academic English-language proficiency requirement (Appendix A). Math: Pre-Calculus 12, Principles of Mathematics 12, MATH 050, or successful completion of the Calculus Readiness Assessment, with a 'C' grade (60%) or higher. Science: at least one course from Life Sciences 11, Biology 12, Chemistry 11/12, Environmental Science 11/12, Earth Sciences 11, Geology 12, Physics 11/12, Specialized Science 12, or Anatomy and Physiology 12, with a 'C' grade or higher.
