The Environmental Science Associate Degree is an Associate of Science credential with a specialization in Environmental Science, offered by Douglas College's Science and Technology faculty at its Coquitlam and New Westminster campuses. Coursework draws on biology, geology, physical geography and chemistry alongside arts and social science electives, covering the biology of organisms and ecosystems, Earth's physical features and natural resources, historical and modern climate change, pollution and waste, and natural hazards. Students gain hands-on experience through field trips and field schools using industry tools such as geological mapping software. The credential runs four semesters of full-time study, worth 60 transferable credits, of which at least 18 must be in Environmental Science and nine of those at the second-year level. Graduation requires a minimum program GPA of 2.00 and at least half the coursework completed at Douglas College. Credits transfer to British Columbia's research universities (SFU, UBC, UBC Okanagan, UVic or UNBC) under the BC Transfer Guide, typically allowing entry into the third year of a related four-year bachelor's degree.
