The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Diploma – Year 2 program at Northlands College, accredited through Saskatchewan Polytechnic, builds on the concepts introduced in Year 1 and prepares learners in northern Saskatchewan to design developmentally appropriate curriculum and create engaging indoor and outdoor learning environments for children. The year emphasizes holistic, play-based approaches grounded in current research, covering early literacy and language, creative arts, numeracy, and inclusive, open-ended play experiences, while continuing to build relationships with children, families, and community partners. Components of the program may be delivered using a hybrid model that combines in-person and online instruction. Entry into Year 2 requires completion of Early Childhood Education Year 1, confirmed by transcripts. Before starting any practicum placement, accepted students must submit a current criminal record check, a vulnerable sector check, and immunization records. The program runs at the La Ronge campus from September 2026 to June 2027.
