Early Childhood Education Diploma

This diploma builds on the knowledge and skills gained in an Early Childhood Education (ECE) certificate and is intended for students who have already completed ECE certificate training. Students choose a specialization in either Special Needs or Infancy (care of children under three years old), completing three shared core courses plus three courses in the chosen specialty. The program includes a 26-hour seminar and a 200-hour supervised practicum. Core courses are offered in the evening to accommodate daytime work schedules, while field placements are scheduled during the day. The program is one year in length, requires 60 credits for graduation, and is offered at the Abbotsford campus. Graduates may apply to the Provincial Licensing Board for registration as a Special Needs or Infant/Toddler supervisor, or pursue further study toward a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care at UFV.
