Program details

Overview

Grounded in the foundations of media and writing, this diploma explores how news and communications media function, traces the history of journalism, and examines cultural policy and theory. Particular attention goes to social justice alongside questions of identity, gender, race, class, sexuality and nationality. While entry-level work in fields such as public relations, marketing, advertising, research or publishing is possible, especially in smaller or independent digital settings, the diploma is primarily intended as a liberal arts grounding for further academic study.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Okanagan College's Diploma in Communications, Culture, and Journalism Studies admits under the college's standard route: B.C. secondary-school graduation or the equivalent, and English 12 at a minimum of 60 per cent or an approved alternative.
