Investigation – Public and Private is an Ontario College Diploma program that builds skills in analysis, communication, information gathering, interviewing, issue identification, research, and problem solving. Coursework covers investigative methods, surveillance techniques, threat and risk assessment, and forensic investigation practices for both private-sector and law-enforcement-adjacent work. The program runs two academic years for a September start, or 16 continuous months for a January start. In the second year, students complete a field placement, paid or unpaid, with an industry organization. After completing the first semester, students become eligible to apply for professional licences as private investigators or security professionals in Ontario. The curriculum applies these skills to both public-sector investigative roles and private investigation practice.
