The HR Business Partner's role is vital, contributing in all functional areas of HR for effective workforce management. At Sheridan, you'll master these complexities and gain the skills to excel in HR.Co-op experienceYou'll have the opportunity to apply to the optional co-op program during your first academic semester. If admitted to the co-op program, your work term will take place during the four-month term following the second semester. Co-op positions may be paid or unpaid. This opportunity for real-world experience in an HR environment can be an invaluable asset to your career.Additional certificationThis program includes nine courses required by the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) towards achieving a professional designation in Human Resources. These designations are the CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional) and the CHRL (Certified Human Resources Leader).Students who achieve an average of 70% in these courses with no mark below 65% will meet the coursework requirement to write the CHRP Knowledge Exam (CKE) or the CHRL Knowledge Exam. Meeting the coursework requirement is the first step on the path to being granted the CHRP or CHRL by HRPA. In order to be granted the CHRL, applicants must: Meet the coursework requirement. Pass the CHRP Knowledge Exam. Pass the CHRP Employment Law Exam. Complete the Job Ready program offered by HRPA. In order to be granted the CHRP, applicants must: Meet the coursework requirement. Pass the CHRL Knowledge Exam. Pass the CHRL Employment Law Exam. Document three years of professional experience in HR. Hold a degree in any discipline. Requirements

Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold one of: a postsecondary 3-year advanced diploma, a postsecondary 3- or 4-year degree, a postsecondary 2-year diploma, or demonstrated competence through educational and/or related work experience; those entering on the basis of a 2-year diploma must additionally submit a résumé, cover letter, and essay describing accomplishments demonstrating their aptitude for a career in human resources. Domestic applicants submit official postsecondary transcripts at application, with non-Canadian education assessed through ICAS or WES; international applicants submit official transcripts with notarised English translations where needed. Sheridan's institution-wide English proficiency requirement for degree and graduate-certificate programs applies to applicants whose first language is not English: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 88 with no section below 21 (a redesigned iBT scale applies from 2026), PTE Academic 60 with no section below 57, Duolingo English Test 115 with no subscore below 95, or CAEL 70 with no section below 60. Admission criteria are identical whether the program is taken on campus or in its virtual, online format.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: for programmes starting in Fall 2027 the application opened 26 September 2026, the equal-consideration date is 1 February 2027, and offers can go out from 1 November 2026, with portfolio- and audition-based programmes deciding later in March; accepted offers must be confirmed by 1 May 2027. Winter and Spring/Summer 2027 entry use the same portal but Sheridan publishes no fixed equal-consideration date for them and reviews those on an ongoing basis. International applicants apply directly through Sheridan's own International Application Portal, not ontariocolleges.ca; the college publishes no fixed international deadline and admits on a rolling, space-permitting basis, so early application is advised for the 2027 entry cycle. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
