PGCert in Operational Technology Cybersecurity - 1 Year Track, Virtual, Online is a postgraduate certificate in Cyber Security programme offered by Sheridan College in Oakville, Canada. The programme runs for 2 semesters, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition for international students is CAD 19,943 per total (CAD 7,622 per total for local students).
Cybersecurity principles are applied to AI edge devices, industrial control systems, smart manufacturing and the Industrial Internet of Things through lectures, discussion and case studies, with that theory then tested through group projects, labs and simulations. A capstone project together with a required work-integrated learning component, either a co-op term or a workplace simulation, builds practical experience.
Tools covered include virtual SCADA systems, AI edge devices, patch management and vulnerability assessment, intrusion detection software including Snort and Security Onion, and IoT sensors with equipment data simulations. Two program tracks are offered: a one-year track combining two semesters of coursework with an optional co-op term for qualifying students, and a two-year track that adds an introductory semester on Canadian technology frameworks ahead of three semesters of coursework and a mandatory co-op term or workplace simulation.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires a postsecondary diploma, advanced diploma or degree in engineering, computer science, electronics or a related field, including automation and control systems, IT, OT or cybersecurity credentials; applicants outside these fields may still be considered on a combination of academic and work experience shown through transcripts and a resume. A domestic applicant educated outside Canada needs a credential assessment through ICAS or WES, and private career college courses or credentials are not accepted; international applicants submit official transcripts with a notarized English translation where needed. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet Sheridan's English Proficiency Requirements, published for this graduate certificate as IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEFL iBT 88, PTE 60, Duolingo 115 or CAEL 70. The program page states no admission difference between its 1-year and 2-year tracks or between in-person and Virtual/Online delivery.
Application Details
Start Date:January
Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: for programmes starting in Fall 2027 the application opened 26 September 2026, the equal-consideration date is 1 February 2027, and offers can go out from 1 November 2026, with portfolio- and audition-based programmes deciding later in March; accepted offers must be confirmed by 1 May 2027. Winter and Spring/Summer 2027 entry use the same portal but Sheridan publishes no fixed equal-consideration date for them and reviews those on an ongoing basis. International applicants apply directly through Sheridan's own International Application Portal, not ontariocolleges.ca; the college publishes no fixed international deadline and admits on a rolling, space-permitting basis, so early application is advised for the 2027 entry cycle. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
