Overview
Do you dream in 3D or doodle characters for video games or cartoons? If so, you are a budding animator, and St. Clair College’s Animation 2D/3D program is the right choice for you! This program will give you the skills, discipline and confidence you need to become a sought-after animation artist. Students learn a blend of traditional techniques with the use of cutting-edge industry software. Graduates are able to animate and bring artwork to life through designing and animating characters and environments for traditional 2D and 3D projects for a variety of mediums including television, film and video games. Students also learn to become proficient with digital image manipulation, digital video editing, compositing and file management.Program Highlights

Admission Requirements: Admission requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma with the majority of credits at the College (C), University (U), University/College (M) or Open (O) level; mature applicants without an OSSD may qualify via St. Clair College's mature-student route described on the general admission-procedures page. Beyond the standard Ontario Colleges (OCAS) application, all applicants to this programme must complete a supplementary Art Test; the drawing-test specifications are sent with the acknowledgement letter issued once the OCAS application has been processed. The programme page sets no English-proficiency scores of its own; St. Clair's institution-wide standard for diploma and certificate programmes applies to international applicants: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall, TOEFL iBT 60 overall, PTE Academic 52, CAEL 60, or Duolingo 110. No formal interview or work-experience requirement is stated.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: for programmes starting in Fall 2027 the online application opened on 26 September 2026, the equal-consideration date is 1 February 2027, colleges may start sending offers from 1 November 2026, and accepted offers are due by 1 May 2027; Winter 2027 entry has an equal-consideration date of 15 September 2026. St. Clair flags eight oversubscribed programmes and thirteen high-interest programmes for which it recommends applying by 1 February. After the equal-consideration dates, applications are assessed first-come, first-served while seats remain. International applicants apply through the International OCAS portal and are admitted on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis; St. Clair publishes no fixed international closing date. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
