Overview
This program leads to a Bachelor of Science, with an honours option available, delivered on campus in Calgary, Alberta, through classroom instruction alongside laboratory and field components. It covers general biology, including the biological molecules, the cell, genetics, regulation, structure and function, interaction with the environment, and evolution, while also building research skills, critical thinking, and communication ability within a liberal-arts context and small class sizes. Direct entry from high school needs a diploma with an overall average of 65% or higher across five Grade 12 (30-level) subjects: English Language Arts 30-1, three further courses from the University's approved list of mathematics, science, social-studies, language and arts 30-level subjects, and one additional course from a further approved list; marks below 50%, English Language Arts 30-2/30-3/30-4, and Career and Life Management (CALM) cannot be used to satisfy it. English-language proficiency for BA/BSc, Open Studies, ESR Diploma and Transfer applicants is met by IELTS Academic with no individual band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT with an overall score of 4.5 and no component below 4 (equivalent to 80, no component below 19, under the pre-January-2026 TOEFL scale), PTE Academic 59, Canadian Language Benchmark Level 8, or English Language Arts 30-1 at 65% or above.
