Requirements

Admission Requirements: UBC's own program page for this certificate (pdce.educ.ubc.ca) returned a browser-verification block and could not be read directly; the UBC Academic Calendar's page for the Veterans Transition Certificate in International Development & Human Security states that applicants must show proof of time of service in the Regular or Reserve Allied Forces, by providing a service number, MPRR (Member's Personnel Record Resume), or equivalent official military record, and must otherwise meet the minimum standards for admission to study at UBC, including language proficiency, and all other general UBC admission requirements. Students must be admitted to the UBC Faculty of Education, Vancouver campus, to register in the certificate's for-credit courses. The Calendar page states no minimum GPA, no specific numeric English test score, and no portfolio, interview or work-experience requirement beyond the military-service documentation and general UBC admission standard; the general undergraduate English standard is IELTS Academic overall 6.5 with no part below 6, or an equivalent accepted test.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Domestic and international undergraduate applicants both apply through EducationPlannerBC for Winter Session 2027/28 (September 2027 entry) and Summer 2027: applications open in early October 2026 and the equal-consideration deadline is 15 January 2027, 11:59 p.m. PST, the same date for both groups; a few programs keep reviewing late applications on a space-available basis afterwards. Earlier dates apply only to entrance-award consideration -- 15 November 2026 for the International Scholars Program and 1 December 2026 for Presidential/Centennial/Beyond Tomorrow scholars. Several limited-entry programmes -- Law, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing (advanced entry), Occupational/Physical Therapy, Social Work and Teacher Education -- set their own earlier deadlines from October 2026 through February 2027. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
