Overview
The Micro-certificate in Diversity and Inclusion is a part-time program designed for people who are committed to building environments where everyone’s thoughts, ideas and perspectives matter. Learn how to build inclusive practices within organizational or community settings by examining who you and your organization are, where you’ve been and where you want to go.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission to the UBC Micro-certificate in Diversity and Inclusion, offered through UBC Extended Learning, requires applicants to have at least six months of international or intercultural volunteer or work experience, together with post-secondary education and/or extensive life experience. Candidates must also demonstrate fluency in English, including good written and verbal communication skills, and the academic and interpersonal skills to participate actively in the program, and must be able to commit at least five to seven hours a week per course while meeting the program's minimum technology requirements (a computer, laptop or tablet running Windows or macOS, reliable internet and a current web browser). To apply, candidates complete an online application form with a letter of intent of up to 500 words on their personal or career goals and program expectations, and pay a non-refundable $175 application fee; applicants are encouraged to discuss eligibility and prior experience with the program before applying.

Application Deadline:Domestic and international undergraduate applicants both apply through EducationPlannerBC for Winter Session 2027/28 (September 2027 entry) and Summer 2027: applications open in early October 2026 and the equal-consideration deadline is 15 January 2027, 11:59 p.m. PST, the same date for both groups; a few programs keep reviewing late applications on a space-available basis afterwards. Earlier dates apply only to entrance-award consideration -- 15 November 2026 for the International Scholars Program and 1 December 2026 for Presidential/Centennial/Beyond Tomorrow scholars. Several limited-entry programmes -- Law, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing (advanced entry), Occupational/Physical Therapy, Social Work and Teacher Education -- set their own earlier deadlines from October 2026 through February 2027. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
