Overview
The advanced (post-entry-level) Graduate Certificate in Rehabilitation (GCR) is designed for working health professionals who wish to upgrade their knowledge to meet the demands of practice today. The GCR program consists of five core courses that give you the opportunity to develop the essential knowledge and skills required for best practice in rehabilitation. Each course draws on the research and rehabilitation practice experience of those currently shaping the field. If you are not sure about taking a full master’s program, you can apply to the GCR program first, and then continue on to do the Master of Rehabilitation Science program.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: The Graduate Certificate in Rehabilitation (GCR) is an advanced, fully online certificate for health professionals already practising in rehabilitation, per UBC's program page and its listing on UBC's graduate-degree-programs site. Applicants must be an occupational therapist, physical therapist, or rehabilitation practitioner in a related health and human-services discipline, with a minimum of three years of work experience practising in that profession in a health-care setting. Academically, applicants need a recognized four-year baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, plus at least a 3-credit introductory course in research methods and/or analysis. Neither page states a minimum GPA figure or an English-language test score specific to this certificate. The certificate requires 15 credits across five core courses, and its credits are transferable toward the Master of Rehabilitation Science (MRSc) for GCR graduates who go on to meet that program's own admission requirements.

Application Deadline:Domestic and international undergraduate applicants both apply through EducationPlannerBC for Winter Session 2027/28 (September 2027 entry) and Summer 2027: applications open in early October 2026 and the equal-consideration deadline is 15 January 2027, 11:59 p.m. PST, the same date for both groups; a few programs keep reviewing late applications on a space-available basis afterwards. Earlier dates apply only to entrance-award consideration -- 15 November 2026 for the International Scholars Program and 1 December 2026 for Presidential/Centennial/Beyond Tomorrow scholars. Several limited-entry programmes -- Law, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing (advanced entry), Occupational/Physical Therapy, Social Work and Teacher Education -- set their own earlier deadlines from October 2026 through February 2027. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
