Overview
The MSc in Rehabilitation Sciences is an advanced research degree run jointly by UBC's Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy and Department of Physical Therapy within the Faculty of Medicine. The discipline concerns the treatment and education of people living with temporary or permanent disability so that they can regain the greatest possible function, well-being and personally meaningful independence. The program combines coursework with a required thesis and is taken in person at UBC Vancouver. Applicants need a recognized bachelor's degree in a health-related field with at least three credits of research methods or statistics, and must have a firm commitment from a faculty supervisor before applying.

Admission Requirements: Admission to the Master of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences requires completion of a recognized baccalaureate degree in a health-related discipline such as Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Life Sciences or Social Sciences, together with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies' general minimum academic average, the B+ range (76% at UBC). The GRE is required for some applicants, per the program's own website. Applicants from outside Canada whose prior instruction was not in English must meet UBC's English Language Admission Standard, tested within the last 24 months: IELTS Academic 7.5 overall with no band below 7.0, TOEFL 5.5 overall with no section below 4.5, or Duolingo English Test 140 overall with no section below 125. The application also requires three references, transcripts from every post-secondary institution attended, and a statement of interest.

Application Deadline:Domestic and international undergraduate applicants both apply through EducationPlannerBC for Winter Session 2027/28 (September 2027 entry) and Summer 2027: applications open in early October 2026 and the equal-consideration deadline is 15 January 2027, 11:59 p.m. PST, the same date for both groups; a few programs keep reviewing late applications on a space-available basis afterwards. Earlier dates apply only to entrance-award consideration -- 15 November 2026 for the International Scholars Program and 1 December 2026 for Presidential/Centennial/Beyond Tomorrow scholars. Several limited-entry programmes -- Law, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing (advanced entry), Occupational/Physical Therapy, Social Work and Teacher Education -- set their own earlier deadlines from October 2026 through February 2027. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
