Human Services: Certificate

The Human Services Certificate exposes students to courses across the social sciences, psychology, and sociology, preparing them for work in the helping professions. Coursework covers child and family development, criminal justice, faith-based social services, general human services, and global social issues, and prepares students to work with individuals experiencing social, emotional, and cognitive challenges. The certificate is offered through Trinity Western University's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and is related to programs including Sociology, Psychology, Political Studies, and Theology. Graduates of the Human Services Certificate are eligible for select course waivers in the regular-standing track of Dordt University's Master of Social Work program, through an educational partnership between the two institutions, subject to admission requirements and the terms of that partnership. Career paths for graduates include psychological aid, social work, youth and community work, mental health services, substance-abuse treatment, group homes, and government agencies.
