Overview
This 30-credit certificate offers an introduction to social work practice, run part-time over a two-year schedule with admission in the fall and winter terms. Two required courses cover communication strategies in the human and social sciences and social work as a discipline and field of practice; optional courses, grouped into blocks on disciplinary foundations, specific social issues (youth in difficulty, mental health, aging, immigration, masculinities), practice methods (families and social networks, crisis intervention), and complementary studies from related disciplines such as economics, gender studies, history, and psychology, let students build a multidisciplinary understanding of the field. Requirements
