Overview
The Health Sciences Preparatory Diploma (Dip.S.S.) is a two-year, on-campus program offered at Université de Moncton's Edmundston and Moncton campuses. It leads to the Diplôme des sciences de la santé, officially recognized by all francophone Quebec universities for admission to health-sciences programs under the Quebec-New Brunswick agreement, and prepares students for admission to faculties or schools of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, optometry, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, veterinary medicine, and audiology. It is intended for Canadian citizens or permanent residents permanently residing in the three Maritime provinces. The 56-credit program includes 44 to 50 credits in the main science disciplines, of which 35 are required, opening with a biochemistry course covering cellular organization and basic structural elements of living matter, the major classes of biomolecules such as amino acids and proteins, sugars, lipids, and nucleic acids, and applications to the health sciences. The diploma is a preparatory credential rather than a bachelor's degree.

Admission Requirements: Admission requires a high school diploma including French 12 (French 10411 or equivalent, replaceable by a French-second-language or terminal English course for immersion graduates), a pre-calculus mathematics course (Math 30411C or equivalent), a terminal science course (from Biol 53411, Biol 53421, Chim 52411, Phys 51411, or Phys 51421, or equivalent), and two other eligible courses, with a minimum mark of 65% in French and 60% in the other required courses and an overall average of at least 70% across the five admission courses.
