Overview
This program leads to a Doctorate in Psychology (D.Psy.), a 48-consecutive-month, full-time professional doctorate delivered on campus at the Moncton campus, preparing graduates for professional practice in psychology and meeting the training requirements of the College of Psychologists of New Brunswick and other Canadian regulatory bodies. The curriculum deepens knowledge of the biological, individual, social, and cognitive-affective foundations of behaviour and builds competencies in interpersonal relations, assessment, intervention, research, ethics, and supervision; the first year comprises 54 mandatory credits, including a thesis seminar and courses on child, adolescent, and adult psychopathology. Students may be required to complete practicum or internship placements outside the Moncton region. Admission requires a specialized bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in psychology with a minimum average of 3.50 on a 4.30 scale, functional knowledge of English, sponsorship by a Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research member, and a supplementary letter of intent covering the proposed research theme and relevant experience. Admission is for the fall term only, subject to annual enrollment capacity, with a maximum completion time of seven years.
