This graduate diploma (DESS) in nursing science advances clinical practice through research-informed knowledge, preparing registered nurses to critically examine complex health problems and emerging models of care. The 30-credit, second-cycle program is offered in the fall and winter trimesters on a full-time or part-time basis. Courses are generally scheduled in person during the day and evening, though most of the program's courses can also be followed remotely by videoconference; laboratory activities and clinical practicums require attendance on campus or at a clinical site. The 21-credit mandatory core covers nursing epistemology, quality optimization in care, research methods and statistics, family health, program development, and issues in advanced nursing practice. A further nine credits are elective, allowing students to specialize in areas such as community health, critical care, or pediatric nursing. The program is intended for licensed nurses seeking to deepen research-based clinical expertise without committing to a full master's degree.
