MA/MS in Nursing Science (IPS Mental Health)

This 45-credit master's program prepares registered nurses to become nurse practitioners (infirmieres praticiennes specialisees, IPS) in mental health, building on the Diploma of Advanced Studies (DESS) in Nursing - IPS Mental Health. Graduates are trained to assess mental health disorders across the lifespan and to perform advanced nursing activities authorized under Quebec's regulated nursing scope of practice. Theoretical courses are offered both at a distance and in person, while clinical laboratory components are delivered on-campus at the Levis site. The program is delivered in partnership with Universite Laval for select clinical coursework and admits only in the autumn trimester, with enrollment limited to 12 places across the Rimouski and Levis campuses combined. It leads to a Master of Science (M.Sc.) and is not open to international applicants. Admitted students may access provincial financial support from Quebec's Ministry of Health and Social Services.
