This 45-credit master's program, typically completed over four trimesters, prepares registered nurses to become nurse practitioners (IPS) in primary care, building on the Diploma of Advanced Studies (DESS) in Nursing - IPS Primary Care. Graduates combine advanced nursing practice with authorized medical activities aimed at promoting, maintaining, or improving patient health in settings such as CLSCs, medical clinics, family medicine groups, and emergency departments. Theoretical courses can be taken at a distance or in person, at the student's choice, while laboratory and clinical placements are delivered in person at the Rimouski or Levis campus. The program is offered jointly with other Universite du Quebec institutions (UQAC, UQO, UQTR, UQAT) and prepares graduates for the professional IPS licensing examination administered by the OIIQ. It admits a maximum of 16 new students annually in the autumn trimester only and leads to a Master of Science (M.Sc.); it is not open to international applicants.
