This Bachelor of Science in Physics at Universite du Quebec a Trois-Rivieres is a 90-credit program offered full-time or part-time, with admission each fall and winter, no enrolment cap, and study on the Trois-Rivieres campus. Physics is presented as the mathematical science that seeks to understand, model, and explain physical phenomena across the material world and the universe, from quantum mechanics to astronomy. The program gives students a foundational and practical training, developing logical reasoning and mathematical and computing tools through laboratories focused on modelling physical systems and problem-solving. Coursework applies to projects such as risk calculation, numerical simulation of molecular catalysts for hydrogen production, study of terahertz wave emissions from semiconductors, and modelling of condensed matter for electromagnetism applications. Students specialize through four optional 21-credit profiles, several offered only at UQTR, including fundamental physics, covering topics such as astrophysics, general relativity, and particle physics, and numerical solid-state physics, combining artificial intelligence, data structures, and materials-science simulation.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission to the Bachelor of Physics is per UQTR's program-based process, with intake each fall and winter and no enrolment cap. Quebec DEC holders qualify with a DEC in Sciences, Letters and Arts, a DEC in Natural Sciences, a DEC in Computer Science and Mathematics, or any other pre-university DEC with Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics prerequisites completed; DEC holders from a technical program qualify with the same science prerequisites, and those unable to document them may be admitted conditionally on remedial coursework. Experience-route applicants need knowledge equivalent to the same Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics college courses. Applicants from outside Quebec need a 13-year pre-university diploma, or a 12-year pre-university diploma plus one year of university study, with a remedial year required absent a government agreement with Quebec.
