Overview

This thesis-based Maitrise en lettres allows students to specialize in letters by deepening their knowledge of texts and engaging in systematic reflection on the theoretical and institutional foundations of literary study. Leading to a Maitrise es arts (M.A.) over 45 credits, it is normally completed in two years. The programme culminates in a research thesis or a research-creation thesis, giving candidates the option to pursue either a traditional scholarly project or a creative work grounded in critical reflection. It is offered full-time or part-time, with admission in the fall, winter, and summer terms. The programme suits graduates in literature who want to conduct independent, supervised research under a faculty director and produce an original written thesis.
