This Bachelor of Education program prepares graduates to teach at the elementary level with a specialization in French as a first language, and can be completed in two years or in an accelerated sixteen-month format that is not open to international students. Universite Sainte-Anne is the only Nova Scotia university offering this French-first-language elementary specialization. The 60-credit program consists of 48 credits of required coursework and 12 credits of seminars and practicum placements, with practicum experience gained in Nova Scotia public schools. Admission requires an existing undergraduate degree, so entering students already hold prerequisite coursework in humanities, science, mathematics, and French and English. Graduates qualify to teach French-first-language elementary classrooms in the province, and the degree combines academic study with supervised classroom experience before certification.
