Overview

This Bachelor of Education program prepares graduates to teach at the elementary level with a specialization in French as a second language, and can be completed in two years or in an accelerated sixteen-month format that is not open to international students. Universite Sainte-Anne is the only Nova Scotia university that grants a specialist diploma in French-second-language elementary teaching. The 60-credit program consists of 48 credits of required coursework across seventeen courses, combined with 12 credits of seminars and three practicum placements in Nova Scotia public schools. Admission requires an existing undergraduate degree, so students build on prior studies with a focused year of pedagogy and French-second-language teaching methodology. Graduates qualify to teach French-second-language elementary classrooms in the province, combining subject-area methodology with hands-on classroom practice.

Requirements

Minimum GPA: 2.30 / 4.3
