This four-year Bachelor of Social Work is a 120-credit programme delivered in two stages: the first year is taken through Universite Sainte-Anne across its Nova Scotia campuses, and years two through four combine Sainte-Anne coursework with courses delivered online through Laurentian University. Field education is a core component, with a 300-hour practicum in the third year and a 400-hour practicum in the fourth year, both completed in Nova Scotia settings. The programme prepares graduates for direct-practice roles across social services and health settings, including social agencies, schools, hospitals, community health centres, mental health clinics, child-protection and correctional services, family courts, social housing organizations, employee-assistance programs, and private counselling practice. First-year admission requires only a secondary school diploma or its provincial equivalent, with no language-test requirement; moving into second year additionally requires passing specific introductory social work, sociology, and psychology courses with minimum grades, plus 15 credits in arts and humanities. Before beginning practicum placements, students must provide a criminal record check and a Child Abuse Register clearance. The credential suits students aiming at frontline social work practice in Nova Scotia.
