Overview
This thesis-based Doctor of Philosophy in the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, Faculty of Science, specializes in Statistics. Applicants must submit a curriculum vitae, a personal statement (maximum two pages), and three letters of reference; up to three publications and GRE General and Mathematics scores may be submitted but are not required. Where applicable, English language proficiency must be demonstrated with TOEFL 100 internet-based (minimum 22 per skill area; tests written on or after January 21, 2026 use the new 1-6 scale, minimum overall 5, minimum 4.5 per skill), IELTS overall 7.0 (minimum 6.0 per band), PTE overall 68 (minimum 60 per category), or Cambridge 176 (minimum 169 per subscore), with test scores less than two years old.
