Overview
The Bachelor of Science with Honors in Mathematics explores the underlying structure of mathematics, including abstraction, logic, and symmetry, for students drawn to studying mathematics for its own sake. As an Honors degree in the Faculty of Science, the programme embeds a research thesis project and requires students to maintain a higher academic standard than the BSc Major. Students may add a minor from the Faculty of Arts, Native Studies, Business, or Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences, though a double major is not permitted. The programme is delivered by the Faculty of Science and is also offered as a BSc Major. Many graduates go on to work in universities and research institutions, while others move into commercial sectors such as finance and computing. Career paths include actuary, mathematician, statistician, cryptographer, econometrician, numerical analyst, operations researcher, financial advisor, information technologist, and research scientist.
