This combined graduate program, offered jointly by the Alberta School of Business and the Faculty of Engineering's Department of Mechanical Engineering, leads to both a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Engineering. Admission Requirements: The department's minimum admission requirement for degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Management is an undergraduate degree with an admission GPA of at least 3.0 on the 4-point scale from the University of Alberta, or an equivalent qualification and standing from a recognized institution, calculated on the last 60 units of graded coursework or the equivalent of the last two years of full-time study. Where applicable, proof of English language proficiency is required: a TOEFL iBT score of 93 (tests before January 21, 2026) or 4.5 (tests on or after that date), or equivalent; an overall IELTS score of at least 6.5 with at least 6.0 on each band; a CAEL score of at least 70 with at least 60 on each subtest; a PTE score of at least 61; or a Cambridge score of at least 176 with at least 169 on each subscore. Applicants must submit three letters of reference, a CV, and a personal statement.
