Overview
The Master of Biomedical Technology (MBT) at the University of Calgary is a course-based, one-year full-time program combining classroom and laboratory instruction with a paid three-month summer practicum. Coursework covers the business side of biotechnology, integrated biological systems, clinical trials, biomanufacturing, and bioinformatics, preparing graduates for roles in biotechnology and related industries. Applicants are expected to have preparatory coursework in genetics, cellular and molecular biology, and biochemistry, along with senior-level courses in areas such as microbiology, immunology, pharmacology, or physiology. Minimum GPA:3.30 / 4.0
Admission Requirements: Applicants need a BSc in Biological Science, or equivalent, with a minimum GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 point system over the last two years of full-time study. Suggested preparatory coursework includes genetics, cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, and senior-level courses in microbiology, immunology, pharmacology, or physiology. Applicants must submit a current CV, a one-page vision statement, and two reference letters. Applicants whose primary language is not English must meet the university's English language proficiency requirements set out in the Academic Calendar.
