Overview
The Master of Information Security and Privacy (MISP) is a course-based graduate program at the University of Calgary that prepares students to defend software and network systems against current and emerging threats. The curriculum integrates recent research and industry best practices in information security and data privacy. Students complete eight courses (24 credits) across two of three certificate streams: Data Privacy and Network Security, combined with either an internship or a capstone project. The program is delivered in-person and admits students in the Fall term only. Direct-entry full-time students typically complete the degree in 12 months, with a maximum completion window of four years; a laddered certificate pathway extends expected completion to two years. Graduates are prepared for roles in the technology sector, business start-ups, computer science research, government, and information technology. The program is offered through the Faculty of Science at the University of Calgary.

Minimum GPA:3.00 / 4.0
Admission Requirements: Applicants require a four-year undergraduate degree from a recognized institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 point system over the last two years of study. Successful completion of undergraduate coursework in computer programming, algorithms and data structures, and either operating systems or computer networks is mandatory. English language proficiency requirements are set out in the Graduate Calendar. Applications for Fall admission are due March 1 for international applicants (December 1 for applicants from Iran).
