Overview
The Major in History is an undergraduate concentration within a Bachelor's degree at the University of Ottawa. The discipline examines the diverse and complex ways individuals and groups have created and responded to change over thousands of years across different regions of the world, drawing on historical methods to analyze political, social, cultural and economic developments. Students complete 42 units of history coursework in addition to general Bachelor's degree requirements, choosing from courses spanning multiple time periods and geographic regions. The program is offered in both English and French, with a French immersion stream available to students completing an honours degree. Cooperative education, combining academic study with paid work terms, is also available as an option within the honours degree.
