This Major in Philosophy at the University of Ottawa introduces students to major questions in philosophy through the reading and discussion of foundational texts on topics such as truth, justice, morality, and existence. The curriculum follows a twin historical and analytical approach, covering political and social philosophy, ethics, philosophy of science, philosophy of language, philosophy of mind, and logic. As a major, the program comprises 42 units of discipline-specific coursework, made up of basic-skills and compulsory courses plus optional courses, and is intended to be combined with a second major or a minor under the university's Honours bachelor's degree regulations. It is delivered in both English and French; the French immersion stream is available when the major is taken as part of an honours degree.
