Overview

The Doctor of Philosophy in Epidemiology at the University of Saskatchewan, offered through the School of Public Health, prepares highly qualified epidemiologists to investigate complex population and public health issues and to independently design and conduct quantitative research on the biological and environmental determinants of health. Through classroom instruction, hands-on experience in faculty research programs, and dissertation research, students develop expertise in one or more areas of specialization, including chronic disease epidemiology, clinical epidemiology, environmental epidemiology, epidemiology of zoonotic diseases, infectious disease epidemiology, nutritional epidemiology, and occupational epidemiology. The program draws on faculty with expertise across departments and colleges. Applicants are encouraged to contact a potential supervisor before applying, and evidence of previous research experience is expected. The program has an expected length of four years, is thesis-based, and is delivered in person, with admission open for the September and January terms.

Minimum GPA: 75.00 / %
Admission Requirements: Applicants require a master's degree, or equivalent, from a recognized university in an academic discipline relevant to the proposed field of study, with a cumulative weighted average of at least 75% (USask grade system equivalent) in the last two years of full-time study, and evidence of previous research experience. Applicants are recommended to secure a supervisor before applying. Proof of English language proficiency may be required for international applicants and for applicants whose first language is not English.
