Overview
The Doctor of Philosophy in Kinesiology at the University of Saskatchewan is a thesis-based doctoral program with an expected duration of four years, delivered in person on the Saskatoon campus within a research cohort of roughly fifty graduate students. The program organizes its research around four broad areas: Indigenous wellness, healthy aging and chronic conditions, child and youth development, and human performance, drawing on faculty expertise in behavioural science, biomechanics, bone research, exercise physiology, motor learning and control, and pedagogy. Admission follows one of two routes: a non-direct-entry path for applicants with a master's degree and a minimum 70 percent average, or a direct-entry path for applicants with a four-year honours bachelor's degree, an 85 percent average, and an existing record of published research. Students have access to dedicated office and laboratory space supporting collaborative research and publication. It suits candidates aiming at an academic or research career in human movement science, particularly those drawn to Indigenous health, aging, youth development, or performance-related research questions.
