Overview
The Master of Public Health at the University of Saskatchewan's School of Public Health prepares students for professional practice and leadership across the public health field. It is offered primarily as a course-based degree, structured for completion in two years of full-time study or up to four years part-time; a thesis-based route exists but is only open to students already enrolled in the course-based program during their first year. Instruction integrates five core public health disciplines: biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental health sciences, health services administration, and the social and behavioural sciences. The program is delivered both in person and online, with the online option limited to students living in North America, and is based at the Saskatoon campus. Unlike some of the university's other graduate programs, applicants do not need to secure a faculty supervisor before applying. The program suits students and working professionals aiming for careers in public health practice, policy or leadership, including those interested in areas such as Indigenous health, health equity, infectious disease, or chronic disease prevention, and offers a structured, discipline-spanning alternative to narrower clinical or laboratory-based graduate training.
