Overview
The Bachelor of Kinesiology degree explores a broad range of topics that include anatomy, biomechanics, exercise physiology, sociology, education, active health, wellness, and nutrition. Not only do you benefit from UFV's smaller class sizes, but you also have additional opportunities for hands-on experience in the human performance lab, in the community, and in professional settings. You'll learn foundational topics such as human anatomy, sport psychology, biomechanics, and human nutrition, as well as physical activity, health, and fitness. You'll develop skills for teaching and counselling athletes, and learn about athletic injuries, research methods, applied ethics, physiology, exercise testing, and exercise prescription. Grads with a Bachelor of Kinesiology may work in a variety of roles as health professionals to help people improve their health and wellbeing.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Three ways in, and a maths/science prerequisite set that varies by route. OPTION 1 - SECONDARY SCHOOL: B.C. secondary school graduation or an equivalent; English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 at C+ (English 12, English Literature 12, AP English, IB English A or an out-of-province equivalent also accepted); one of Statistics 12, Foundations of Mathematics 12 or Pre-calculus 12 at C; and one of Anatomy and Physiology 12, Biology 12, Chemistry 12 or Physics 12 at C+ - students heading for the Exercise Science specialisation also need the BIO 111 prerequisites. Physical and Health Education 11 or 12, or a record of athletic or recreational activity, is recommended. OPTION 2 - UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE (into second year): KIN 163 or KIN 170 at C+; English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 at C+, or ENGL 105 or CMNS 125 at C-; one of Statistics 12, Foundations of Mathematics 12 or Pre-calculus 12 at C, or STAT 104, STAT 106 or PSYC 110; and a further 12 university-level credits, KIN or otherwise, at an overall GPA of 2.33. OPTION 3 - DEPARTMENTAL DISCRETION: the Kinesiology department will look at applicants with relevant experience who fall short on GPA, grades or course currency, may require one or more lower-level courses to clear the gaps, and may grant conditional acceptance - you must contact the department first and obtain written permission to apply on this basis. LANGUAGE: English at UFV's Degree/diploma level, which international applicants and anyone whose first language is not English normally meet with IELTS Academic 6.5 (no band under 6.0), TOEFL iBT 88 (no section under 20), PTE Academic 61 with 60 in writing, Duolingo 110, or English Studies 12 / English First Peoples 12 at C+. DEADLINES: unusually for UFV, this programme publishes its own - Fall applications open 1 October and close 31 January, Winter open 1 May and close 31 August, Summer open 1 October and close 31 December.

Application Deadline:Unlike most UFV programmes, Kinesiology publishes its own deadline table, so use these dates rather than the general schedule. DOMESTIC APPLICANTS: Fall (September) entry opens 1 October and closes 31 January; Winter (January) entry opens 1 May and closes 31 August; Summer (May) entry opens 1 October and closes 31 December. UFV records your application date only when the application, the fee and all listed documents have arrived, so submit transcripts well before the closing date. INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS: this programme accepts international students, and UFV International's own windows run 1 October to 31 May for Fall, 1 May to 31 October for Winter and 1 October to 1 March for Summer, with confirming tuition due 1 May, 1 October and 15 February respectively; where the two schedules disagree the earlier programme deadline is the one that governs the academic assessment, so confirm with UFV International before relying on the later international date.
