It traces its founding to 1941, when PAOC ministers meeting in Vancouver established the British Columbia Bible Institute to train workers for Christian ministry; the school was renamed Western Pentecostal Bible College in 1962, then took its current name, Summit Pacific College, by an act of the BC Legislature in 2003. The college is accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE), holding full accreditation since 1980 and most recently reaffirmed in 2021 through 2031, and it is authorized to grant certificates and degrees at the associate, baccalaureate, and master's levels.
Undergraduate study centres on the Bachelor of Arts in Religion, a 123-semester-hour, four-year credential offered with majors such as biblical theology, pastoral theology, counselling foundations, youth leadership, child and family leadership, music leadership, and non-profit organizational leadership, alongside shorter diploma and certificate options in Bible and ministry studies. Graduate theological studies are offered through its affiliated Summit School of Graduate Studies, and a distance-education division extends courses to students studying off campus.
