The Doctor of Public Health (DrPH), offered through the University of Toronto's Dalla Lana School of Public Health, focuses on applied research and practice-based training to build leadership, management, and public health practice competencies. The two-year, 5.5-full-course-equivalent curriculum includes core courses in Year 1 plus a research methods course, and in Year 2 an advanced core course, two electives, and a written comprehensive examination. Students write a doctoral thesis under an approved thesis committee and complete a final oral defence before a School of Graduate Studies-approved examination committee. The program is delivered in a hybrid format, combining coursework with a weeklong in-person intensive session each academic session, and normally takes four years of full-time study with continuous registration.
