Ecology & Evolution is a Specialist science program at the University of Toronto Mississauga, requiring 14.5 credits including at least 6.0 credits at the 300/400 level, of which 1.0 credit must be at the 400 level. The curriculum builds from first-year biology, chemistry and calculus through second-year courses in genetics, physiology and organismal biology, into Third and Fourth Year coursework in evolution, ecology and biostatistics, plus a credit in organismal biology and a field-course component. The program prepares students to understand the origins, diversity and distribution of organisms and to engage with topics such as biodiversity conservation, invasive species, sustainable resource use and global environmental change. Enrolment is limited: students apply after completing 4.0 UTM credits, including BIO152H5 and BIO153H5, with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.50 computed from percentage grades.
