Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (MSc)

The Master of Science (MSc) in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology is offered through the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, with faculty distributed across all three University of Toronto campuses and the Royal Ontario Museum. The program's main goal is to give students the opportunity to design, conduct, and write up a substantial independent research project, drawing on research areas spanning anatomy and physiology, behaviour, behaviour genetics, bioinformatics, community, population, ecosystem, landscape, and evolutionary ecology, conservation biology, developmental biology, genetics and genomics, microbiology, molecular evolution, plant biology, taxonomy and systematics, and theoretical biology. The full-time program is completed over 4 sessions, delivered in person. Admission requires a bachelor's degree from a recognized university with an average grade equivalent to a University of Toronto B+ or better in the final year and a minimum B average in the previous year, and applicants must secure agreement from a graduate faculty member to supervise their research before admission.
