Human Geography (HBA) at the University of Toronto examines the social and economic problems of human settlement and land use and the key factors that shape societies, economies, regions and cities. The program is offered at both the University of Toronto Scarborough and St. George campuses as a Specialist, Major or Minor, structured around three concentrations: environmental geography, urban geography, and social and cultural geography. Students gain practical experience through fieldwork and empirical studies from their first year onward. No co-op component is required, and a combined-degree route with the Master of Teaching is available, extending total study to six years. About 91% of graduates report being employed within two years of graduation, in roles such as policy analyst, urban planner, GIS analyst, sustainability coordinator or development worker. The program runs over four years of full-time study.
