Biochemistry (MSc) is a thesis-based research master's program in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Toronto, focused on the molecular events underlying biological processes. Students conduct research in the relationship between structure and biological function in proteins, nucleic acids, and lipids, and in complex multi-component systems such as membranes and sub-cellular organelles. Coursework totals 1.5 full-course equivalents, made up of BCH2020Y, BCH2101H, and at least 0.25 elective credit, alongside a research thesis defended at an oral examination; students are expected to register and work full-time in their laboratories until thesis completion and final defence. The program runs full-time over two years (six sessions, Fall-Winter-Summer in each year) and is delivered in person at the St. George campus. The MSc is not currently open to international applicants.
