The Master of Financial Insurance (MFI) is a professional graduate program offered by the Department of Statistical Sciences at the University of Toronto, built on three pillars: statistical methods, financial mathematics, and insurance modelling, and aimed at producing future leaders in the global financial insurance industry. Students proceed through the program as a single cohort, following a common, computer-laboratory-intensive course of study. The program runs over three full-time sessions (Fall, Winter, Summer), within a three-year time limit. Admission requires an average grade equivalent to at least a University of Toronto B+ in the final year or over senior courses; applicants who meet the School of Graduate Studies' mid-B minimum and demonstrate exceptional ability through relevant workplace experience may also be considered. Applicants whose first language is not English and who studied where English was not the language of instruction must demonstrate English proficiency. The program is delivered in person.
