The Master of Mathematical Finance (MMF) at the University of Toronto is a 12-month professional graduate program that applies advanced mathematics to problems in financial markets. Students spend an initial four-month period building the core tools of financial mathematics before completing an internship with an industry employer, then choose between two areas of emphasis: Sustainable Finance or Financial Technologies (FinTech). The program is run as a small, cohort-based degree, with an intake each fall, and is designed for students with strong quantitative backgrounds who want to move into quantitative roles in banking, asset management, and financial technology. The internship component gives students applied, industry-based experience that complements the classroom-based mathematical finance curriculum. Applications for a given fall intake open around a year in advance, with a mid-December deadline for that following fall's cohort.
