The Master of Financial Risk Management (MFRM) is a professional graduate program offered by the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. It is a full-time program lasting 10 months, beginning in September, and combines coursework in risk and finance theory with practical, real-world application. Students complete 10 courses across two terms, together with the Rotman Risk Management Project — a nine-week, field-based project during which students work alongside risk management professionals — and a Self Development Lab. The curriculum covers finance and technology skills relevant to risk management roles, and the program includes career support and exposure to industry through its project component. Admission requires a four-year undergraduate degree, preferably in a quantitative field such as business, commerce, economics, mathematics, engineering, or actuarial science, along with demonstrated quantitative proficiency in calculus, linear algebra, and statistics or econometrics, prior coursework in finance and accounting fundamentals, and knowledge of Python coding. The program leads to a Master of Financial Risk Management degree.
